'A Taste of Home': Growing a sense of belonging through innovative community gardening for African immigrants in Alberta, Canada
Project overview
This is a community-based research project funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Council (SSHRC), Canada that aim to:
Establish an experiential education site for community members to acquire gardening skills and food literacy on African food culture and growing of tropical vegetables. We do this by:

Working alongside Sinkunia Community Development Organization on their collective community garden to establish suitable education materials and demonstration spaces on the suitable conditions for growing preferred tropical vegetables by Black immigrants in Alberta.

To extend the growing season and support ongoing community learning and skill development, we will establish a community-owned eco-friendly greenhouse to support community learning and skill development.
